Contour Plus Rehydrating Gel

eyeContour Plus is a gel specially created for treating dehydrated skin in the eye contour area. It contains Retard P.M.L.® multi-laminar liposomes that convey glycosaminoglycans.

Liposomes have meant an absolute revolution in the administration of active substances by topical application, and so much so that today they are the most effective vehicle that the cosmetic industry has for the active ingredients to penetrate the skin. Liposomes are simply micro spheres that encapsulate active ingredients, but it is the composition of these micro spheres that makes them an exceptional vehicle for effective penetration.

To heighten the advantages met by liposomes, Vincent Davianny uses extremely small (200-600 micras) P.M.L Retard Liposomes® in the formulations.
P.M.L Liposomes® are "multilaminar", which means that they consist of diverse layers of phospholipids and each of these encapsulate diverse substances.
So, given the high penetration power of our liposomed products, an immediate firming effect can be seen from the very first application.
The Contour Plus is perfectly compatible with all skincare products.

Fat loss – what works and what does not

Despite the so-called obesity epidemic and intense consumer demand for weight loss treatments, we know very little about what women do to stay fit and whether what they do works. For example, in practice, is diet more important than exercise? And what about combinations of methods?

To shed some light on that issue, Lauren Williams, PhD and her team based at the University of Newcastle used the 1996 Australian Longitudinal Study of Women's Health and a follow up two years later to examine the weight loss methods that women use, and their effectiveness. The researchers looked at the weight loss methods, and how much weight had been gained and lost by 11 500 women aged between 30 and 55.

The study asked about nine weight control practices.
1. commercial weight loss programs
2. meal replacements/slimming
products
3. exercise
4. cut down on size of meals/snacks
5. cut down on fats/sugars
6. laxatives, diuretics, slimming pills
7. fasting
8. vegetarian diet
9. smoking

Almost 75 percent of the respondents reported using at least one of these practices, and 83 percent reported using a combination of one or more of the practices.

Women who used dietary practices only, by cutting down on portion sizes and limiting fats and sugars, gained an average of 1.32 kilograms in two years. Women who used exercise alone gained an average of 0.72 kilograms, and those who combined dietary practices and exercise gained an average of 1.28 kilograms.

So, what is the most effective strategy? The researchers pointed out that without the attempts to lose weight, weight gain may have increased. They also cautioned, however, that a strong emphasis on dietary methods alone for weight control often leads women to think too much about food, which is likely to be counterproductive if it results in rebound binge eating.

A structured program – including weekly appointments, meetings, weigh ins and support – provides the glue that holds diet and exercise behaviour changes together.

Skin Focus: Understanding What Dehydration Really Is!

crackThere are many different skin types, but often, people with dehydrated skin mistake their condition for dry skin. Dehydrated skin lacks moisture and should not be treated the same as dry skin, which results when the skin produces inadequate oil or sebum.

Because dehydrated skin is the result of inbalance in moisture level, and not because of heredity or aging, like dry skin, treatment should differ between the two skin conditions.  Sufferers of dehydrated skin often make the mistake of slathering thick face creams onto their skin, which can make it become blemished because it is too rich.

Even people with oily skin types can suffer from dehydrated skin.  Indicators that dehydrated skin is present is sometimes evident if experiencing areas of flaky skin, patches of sensitive areas that are blotchy or become reddened easily, skin tightness or discomfort, dull complexion, difficulty in blending or putting on makeup and flare up of adult acne. Dehydrated skin can cause fine lines and creases to become more evident, but there are ways of reversing these unwelcome appearances.

Factors that can contribute to dehydrated skin are:
• Environmental factors
• Exposure to central heating

Hydrating your skin requires you to find moisturising products that contain humectants to seal the moisture in,
and keep your skin hydrated, as well
as ensuring that you drink plenty of water daily.

Hyaluronic Acid – the skins identicial moisturiser.
Natural sodium hyaluronate plays an important role in tissue hydration, lubrication and cellular function.
Water retention is one of the most important biological functions of hyaluronic acid in the skin and other tissues. The remarkable ability of hyaluronic acid to hold moisture ensures soft, smooth, hydrated and elastic skin with the desired sensory effect.

Sodium hyaluronate is the most effective humectant available on the market. It binds water within the intercellular structure of the skin and its unmatched hydrating properties result in increased smoothness and softening, and decreased wrinkles.

Anti-aging effect
Sodium hyaluronate is proven to have an anti-aging effect in human clinical studies. Long-term application of sodium hyaluronate significantly increases skin elasticity, which leads to a reduction in skin roughness.

Hyaluronic acid advantages
 • Increase skin elasticity
 • Decrease skin roughness
 • Short-term skin moisturization
 • Long-term skin moisturization
