10 top tips for
healthy skin in winter
By Fiona Gordon
|
When temperatures plummet in Winter it is vital we pay extra
attention to our skin. To help Fiona of
www.VincentDavianny.com.au has put together ten skin
beauty tips for winter:
1. Be aware that winter weather will affect your skin, look
out for signs of dryness, tightness and reddening.
2. Moisturising is always important but during winter months
switch your usual cream for something more intensive.
3. Cleanse and tone. It may be best to change from foaming
cleansers to more gentle cleansers - lotions or gels.
4. Help your skin from the inside out. For an extra boost
opt for supplements with essential lipids and anti-oxidants
to help keep the skin barrier in good condition.
5. Exfoliate. No matter how dry your skin is, exfoliating
can only be of benefit. Always follow with moisturiser.
6. Avoid red, weepy, narrow slats for eyes by using the
correct products. Use a moisturising and waterproof
mascara to start the day, always ensuring its removal at the
end of the day and use a nourishing eye cream before
bedtime.
7. Avoid chapped lips by applying creamy moisturisers or
Vaseline is good for emergencies.
8. Protect hands with a good pair of gloves and thick socks
will avoid that ice block feeling in the toes. A good hand
cream can also ease that cold redness.
9. Don't forget your sunscreen. UV rays are less intense in
winter but, ray for ray, the proportion of UVA is higher.
UVA is the more deeply damaging so it's worth using
sunscreen.
10. Eat your way to better skin. Winter is famous for colds,
sniffs and for the unlucky ones, flu. The state of our
health shows itself through our skin so eat well, including
your recommended five portions of fruit and veg a day and
drink lots of water during the dark months to help maintain
your natural immune system.
